sorry for the random TV threads, but hey its what my life revolves around.
i figured since the Idol competition is OFFICIALLY underway tonight w/ the top 12 guys performing we could chat about it.
i so know you people watch AI, don't try to lie and say you don't.
i have my early favorite. Michael Johns FTW!
lol, but some of the guys we haven't even heard sing yet. Jason Yeager Luke Menard (who will get votes superficially b/c he's hot) Garrett Haley (?) Jason Castro (i give him cool points for his dreads)
and a few of the other guys have been briefly shown.
i doubt that my ultimate favorite will be replaced, but i'm sure i'll have a few more favorites added to my list.
the dude Robbie Carrico that's in the top 12 guys used to date Britney Spears back in the day. i'm not sure i can fully respect him. he used to look like a Justin Timberlake wannabe. now he just looks like a rocker wannabe.
the girls perform tomorrow. go Brooke and Asia'h!

although i REFUSED to cheer for Fancrappa, oops i mean Fantasia. she was horrible imo.
Syesha seems like she would be fun to hang out with.

haha, i wasn't going to do it, but i had to ...
i met her about a month ago. she was so super cute and nice. there was like no one there to see her perform though. i felt kinda bad. she's improved ALOT from when she was on the show, cause i didn't really like her when she was on AI.
haha, and yes, i realize that like my shirt/sweatshirt/purse totally don't match. but i don't care.

Haha keisha, i don't EVER match. I think matching is lame.
And I'm jealous and hate you. You met Carmen!! She's amazing. She's totally improved since she was 17 and on the show, sooo much! Ugh, I love her.
She my country music addiction.

lol, you guys are gonna have to deal w/ my ramblings about the show last night, i'm gonna rank em all.
1. Michael Johns -- brilliant song choice, even though he had already sung it before. he's just a natural on the stage, he's cute, he's got a good personality. i think it's his competition to win this year. unless we have a Chris Daughty fiasco again, which could definitely happen.
2. David Cook -- interesting take on 'Happy Together'; but there is no denying that he has a great voice. i wish he'd step it up a little on the personality though, i think that is going to make or break him.
3. Jason Casto -- oh how i love the dreads. i remember this guy when he appeared on the show Cheyenne on MTV, i liked him on there, but we didn't get to really see him sing much on the the show. i think he'll continue to do well if he uses his guitar all the time, but if he can't use the guitar, then i think his nerves will get the best of him. he's pretty awesome though.
4. Robbie Carrico -- lol, i love that Ryan Secrest pointed out the fact that he looks like Justin Timberlake, i'm glad i'm not the only one that thought it. i thought he did well. perhaps i'm just more a fan of the rockish singing. all in all a good performance though, not sure if there is room for 4 rockers in the top 12 though, and if there isn't, i believe he'll be the casuality.
5. David Hernandez -- its always hard to start the show off, but i think he did a good job with it. he had fun and he has a good voice. do i think he'll be the winner, no, but i do believe he'll last for a little bit.
6. David Archuleta -- everyone loves this kid. old ladies want to adopt him. little fan girly's want to be on him. he can't lose. i've liked his singing since we first saw him, but i thought his performance last night wasn't all that great. he seemed to rush through the song to me, and he cracked on a note in the middle and messed up at the end, yet the judges gave him mad praise, it was odd to me. he's not going anywhere for a loong time though.
the next few could be interchangable w/ each other, but yeah.
7. Colton Berry -- mr. Ellen Degeneres. eh, he did a decent job w/ 'Suspicious Minds' but it wasn't anything overly great, it wasn't horrible either. he appears awkward to me though, i can't really explain it, it's odd.
8. Luke Menard -- yes, i'm shallow and think he's attractive, which might be why i have him a little higher on my list than he probably should be. though, i think if he came out of his shell a little more and really gave a powerful performance he could easily voice wise be one of the better people. there's just something missing from him which is a shame.
9. Chikezie Eze -- lol, i just love saying his name. i liked his first audition, but after last nights performance i'm not a fan. the song arrangement was odd. he didn't sing all that well, and i thought he made an ass of himself when he tried to talk back to Simon about his suit. (dude, it was ugly). if he makes it through this round, he's going to have to give a stellar performance next week to make it through again.
10. Danny Noriega -- i think he's going to be this season's Sanjaya. not voice wise, b/c he already sounds better than Sanjaya, but personality and over-the-top wise he will be. if he'd perhaps tone himself down and not 'be himself' as he claims he is, he could non-annoyingly do well, but that's not going to happen and we'll have to keep seeing him for awhile.
11. Garrett Haley -- omg, i felt bad for this kid. we haven't seen him sing at all on the show yet, so i was looking forward to actually hearing him. he wasn't overly horrible, but w/ some of the other great singers that are on there he easily fell to the bottom of the pack. he seems like a sweet kid though. it was harsh what Simon said to him (funny, but harsh), but i thought he took all that they said to him maturely.
12. Jason Yeager -- really? he was the most boring of all of them. his voice wasn't super horrible, but he was SO forgetable. and man, i'd vote him out solely based on the fact that his kid looks like a gremlin and scared me. i'm pretty sure he'll be one of the first out. oh well, bye.
all in all, voice wise i think the judges did a good job in picking talent. the thing that is making/breaking them is personality/song choice/charisma. some of them just have it while others don't.
and yay for AI using my Blake's 'Break Anotha' song in the beginning.
looking forward to seeing how the girlies do tonight.

Yeah, had to open up Americanidol.com for this one lol. Danny Noriega is annoying as heck. He's def 'over the top' and needs to not be. He's like Christian from project runway with a voice, but not cuz Christian is kool. I'm still rooting for Hernandez. I havent seen the dude with the dreads sing on the show yet, I was impressed with him. For one of the rockers...David Cook I like the best. All the other dudes are whatever right now. tyvm Eh, I usually like the girls performances better. Can't wait for tonight .

aw. Drew was a cutie, lol, but as he said, he doesn't have to miss hunting season now. i know i'd be super upset to miss out on that *eye roll*
oh yeah, Michael rocked the scarf. lol, someone on a forum i'm on started a thread for the scarf. c.r.a.z.y.
ok, now for my ramblings about the girls...
1. Syesha Mercado -- easily the most powerful singer of the night. girl can sing. she seems kinda goofy too which is one of the reasons i like her. yay for goofiness. she's not my #1 favorite girl, but she was the best of the night.
2. Ramiele Malubay -- i have to say i haven't been much of a fan of hers since we first saw her. but she proved to me last night that she's definitely a good singer. she's quirky and cute and will be around for awhile.
3. Brooke White -- i really like Brooke. she just seems like this happy nice person. do i think her version of 'Happy Together' was as good as David Cook's version? no, but i do think she did the song justice as well. she'll be around for awhile.
4. Asia'h Epperson -- i thought she did well. she has an interesting/different voice and she has a good personality. she just has to make sure she continues to pick good songs, b/c w/ her voice, the wrong song will hurt her severely.
5. Carly Smithson -- i was extremely disappointed w/ her performance. like Simon said, she's the girl that probably has the most buzz surrounding her, so she really needed to step it up and prove that she deserves all the buzz. she just didn't do it though, it was partly a bad song choice and maybe partly b/c she was sick. but i hope she steps it up next time or there will really be alot of disappointed people.
6. Kristy Lee Cook -- i thought she did pretty good to be supposedly sick. she'll stick around b/c she has a small little following, but i think once she gets over the sickness and is able to show that she's really good, she'll gain more respect.
7. Alaina Whitaker -- i think she has the potential to do well, but she hasn't been as pimped as some of the other people so she's going to have a tougher time automatically getting 'fan' votes. she gave a decent performance though.
8. Amanda Overmyer -- i haven't been a fan of her since we first saw her, sure she's authentic and stays true to herself, but i think that's the reason i haven't been a fan. i feel like she grumbles/screams her songs and it's mildly annoying. i did think she was kinda funny though talking about the semi-truck driver w/ Ryan.
9. Alexandrea Lushington -- meh. wasn't the best, wasn't the worst. it just was. i think she'll scrape by this week, but she won't be around for long. i dug the outfit though.
10. Joanne Borgella -- meh. she's a decent singer, but that performance left little to be desired. basically she was forgettable.
11. Amy Davis -- such a bad song choice. she didn't sing it very well and it was just boring. her downfall will definitely be b/c of the song.
12. Kady Malloy -- wow. she was horrible. then bitch had an attitude when all the judges said she was horrible. i really didn't like her at all, she apparently thinks she's gods gift to the American Idol stage, but clearly she's delusional. i'd love to see her leave.
all in all i thought the girls did ok. i think the boys far surpassed them in vocals and in general likability. it'll be a boy that wins this year i think.
as far as leaving tonight i think it'll be ...
The Boys: Jason Yeager and Chikezie Eze The Girls: Kady Malloy and Joanne Borgella
